The first of many.
We hope and will be working to make this one of, if not THE biggest RC offroad event in Africa.

Cool... I guess you guys don't have an electric class yet. What does APN stand for?

It stands for "ASSOCIAÇÃO PORTUGUESA DO KWAZULU-NATAL"

We are fortunate to have been allowed to build our track on the APN Clubs premises and adding value to there facility.
Its a club that promotes and keeps the portuguese community connected by having traditional functions and celebrates Portuguese culture and heritage.

All our APN Raceway members also become members of the APN Club.

Bonus for us is we have a Kitchen on site that makes some of the best Portuguese flame grilled chicken :)

This is good and seems community / family oriented which I believe will keep the sport alive and healthy in your area. There are probably women and children there as well I'm sure.

The two tracks that I've been to here aren't like that and as a result only hard core racers become regulars and some quit within a few months.

The more I think about it, the more I think a community promoted track is THE way to go since it is a win win for all parties involved.

WTG!

Definately a win if its community based.Idea is to get the kids down to occupy themselves instead of loitering around.
The facility has a soccer field, indoor hall with basketball/netball court, restuarant/kitchen area, licenced bar and necessary toilets etc...
They also have a VIP member area where the mens club meet and have poker games and also play pool etc...
There was a paintball area but the lady running it called it quits a few months back so that area we are making into a oval track for guys to tune motors etc... and get the electric oval racing going.

One key thing we have done at the track is upfront we tell members that we are for RC first and have no affiliation to any hobby shops or brands. So any interested shop must join our club and buy signage to make use of the facility.

Pete R150 is roughly $15
For this event we are subsidising the entries to keep it low. We have sold signage and have been sponsored for T-shirts and prizes.
Thanks to Caster and Mikey i will also be sponsoring some kits and accessories as prizes.

We just got sponsored by a new member with complete floodlights, wiring and installation for the entire track and parking area :)
