Hi all, finally finishing my ZX :)I have used the kit engine mounts, flywheel and clutch bell on my engine, but when i put it in the buggy i cant get the clutch bell to mesh tight enough into the main gear even with the engine mounted as far in as i can...i have ran 2 tanks through it and the bell is only marking about half the way down the teeth from the main gear:confused:
Is there a better mount that i can get for it???
Any help would be great !!:)

Could you post a picture? (bottom of chassis and anything you think would be useful)

Are you using the stock engine mount or upgrade? Are you using a stock 13 toothe clutch bell?

If it is over all the way you may have to dremmel out on the bottom of the chassis a little bit so you can slide the mount over some. Personally I'd just go up one tooth on the clutch bell.
When you do set the mesh make sure to put a piece of paper between the pur and clutch bell then slide engine ove and tighten mounts then when you pull the paper out it should leeave perferated teeth marks from the gears on it.

You will probably have to use a 14t bell. Is it the ZX1-R or 1.5R? Sounds like it is the ZX1-R. The 1R had problems with the slots for the engine mount not being wide enough and cause the problem you mentioned. All that is needed is to dremel out the slots a little longer and it will be fine. The rear center driveshaft might SLIGHTLY rub the engine mount but will do nothing, It will be fine. That is what we used to do to fix this problem. NOW you can get a 1.5R 46T spur gear which is slightly larger, along with a 14T bell and it might work ok then, even a 13T might work if you get a 46T spur. Not sure.

Flyin..Stock engine mounts that came with the kit and 13 tooth bell...
DaveD, if i go up to 14 tooth will that still be ok with the main gear /? yeah i am a newbie:D
or would a higher mount be ok...could the mount be spaced up ??
It is the ZX-1r kit vnmsgt, i will look into the 46+14...if not the dremel it will be..

I'd go to a 14 tooth clutch bell. You'll be o.k. on the gearing.

I agree with Dave and Chris use a 14 or dremmel out a little more to move the engine over. You will probably like the 14 better anyways it will give you a little more top end and still have plenty of punch. Sometimes just going up a single tooth smooths out your power line just enough to make you smile. Hope these guys were helpful. Chris and Dave top notch. Dave still has a long way to go to catch Chris in posts though.

I'm having the same issue. I got a one piece motor mount and its better but the 1.5 uses the 46t spur and the other gears have the same ratio. The larger 46t will fix the problem I'm almost positive.

my electric thing doesnt need a 46 tooth for more torque... thats why i run the 44 in my buggy

stalkie on the older cars we had the hassle of the the clutch bell rubbibg the brake disc when using a 13t.
I used to have my motor at a slight angle to get teh mesh right with out touching the brake disc.
Just for safety/reliability sake you could grind/turn the disc down a mm or so.
Some guys also grind teh diff mount closest to the clutch bell for more clearance. I did that to run a 12T bell.

stalkie, why the problems? I thought we had a dist in new zealand?
With the economy plummeting over here, maybe I should move to Australia and run the show over there and put Chris in charge over here.......lol.

Hey Hakmazter, would you have a link for the dist in NZ, and is there a Dist in Australia ?
And as for moving down here, not a better place to live :), and the RC market is waiting to be taken over by Caster. eg: Over here ZX-1R=$650.00....Fusion rtr=$600.00..(These are the only two Casters that i can find for sale)...Mugen MBX6+$1000.00 , as you can see though over here it is a bit more costly to run in this hobby.
