How good are the top notch Caster digital servo's??? How much torque (oz.) do they have. I currently run Hitec 5955 333 oz. for the steering now and 645mg 140 oz. for throttle and they have 2 year warranties. Do the Caster's have a warranty. I am thinking of carrying them and using them too but need to make sure they will last during a race.

So far havent had any issues with Caster servo's sold.
The 9850 is great for steering and the 9851 for throttle..
If on a budget an djust need a upgrade for a RTR the 9849 analogue 9kg servo is good value.
I have the 9851 an 9850 in my K8T and run them with lipo battery and regulater and havent had any hassles with them.
The only gripe i have is the digitals are a touch noisier than other brands.
In my buggy though i am running Ace DS1015 and 1313, untill they retire will i only change them.

I would probably be interested in the 9850 and 9851. Anybody go torque specs in oz. (ounces)? What is the warranty on them?

There is no warranty unless there is a manufacturer defect according to Mikey, but I am trying to get that changed. He thinks there is no warranty on anything in R/C and to a certain extent, he is right, but over here in the states, we as customers expect some kind of warranty....think tommy boy.....lol.

Just cannot see spending close to 100 bucks on a servo with no warranty!

The hassle with warrantee is that the product is not being used in a controlled enviroment and is prone to be abused 90% of the time.
This goes mainly for electrical items.
Mechanical can be inspected and replaced rather easy but not electrical items.
If you popped a servo by using a lipo battery with out a regulater or reverse connecting the battery, how does the manufacturer now what you did if you put in a claim.
lots of other scenarios. Run into a pole and damage the gears inside a servo, have a prang and break a mounting tab etc....
Maybe when there is enough units being sold a guarantee of sorts can be added.

Tommy: Let's think about this for a sec, Ted, why would somebody put a guarantee on a box? Hmmm, very interesting.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Go on, I'm listening.
Tommy: Here's the way I see it, Ted. Guy puts a fancy guarantee on a box 'cause he wants you to feel all warm and toasty inside.
Ted Nelson, Customer: Yeah, makes a man feel good.
Tommy: 'Course it does. Why shouldn't it? Ya figure you put that little box under your pillow at night, the Guarantee Fairy might come by and leave a quarter, am I right, Ted?
[chuckles until he sees that Ted is not laughing too]
Ted Nelson, Customer: [impatiently] What's your point?
Tommy: The point is, how do you know the fairy isn't a crazy glue sniffer? "Building model airplanes" says the little fairy; well, we're not buying it. He sneaks into your house once, that's all it takes. The next thing you know, there's money missing off the dresser, and your daughter's knocked up. I seen it a hundred times.
Ted Nelson, Customer: But why do they put a guarantee on the box?
Tommy: Because they know all they sold ya was a guaranteed piece of ****. That's all it is, isn't it? Hey, if you want me to take a dump in a box and mark it guaranteed, I will. I got spare time. But for now, for your customer's sake, for your daughter's sake, ya might wanna think about buying a quality product from me.
Ted Nelson, Customer: [pause] Okay, I'll buy from you.
Tommy: Well, that's...
Tommy, Richard Hayden: ...What?

On this site it says that the 9850 and 9851 have the same exact specs of 138.8oz. That's got to be wrong. What does each one have?
So you guys are agreeing that these servos are good right? I am just worried about the torque it is 138oz if that would be ok for steering on the K8T. I was using Hitec 645MG 140oz. servos and they went bad a dime a dozen on my other truggies (everybody I ran with had them and they constantly went bad). We all switched to the Hitec 5955 333oz servos and not one of us has had a problem for over 7 months now. I have one of the 645mg's in my buggy right now but am just waiting for it to break during a race! Just for the price of the 333oz. about 100 bucks and 2 year warranty why would you get the caster one is my dilema? Just seems like awful lot of money retail for a 138oz. servo.

For the truggy i wouldnt use anything less than 13KG.
Only alternative id suggest is teh Ace 1015 and they come with a warrantee from AE.

I'm not sold on the servo's yet. I've been running JR's and airtronics for many years and the electronics (to me) is the most important item on that car/truggy. Give it some time and we'll see how them hold up in the long run.

Well, you probably have to try them to be sold on them.......lol.

I do believe your right, but I'll let others be the test bunnies first, and since I really don't need any servo's at this time anyhow, I can just sit back and wait for the responce of them. That's smart money!:p

I agree. But when you do need them.........you know where to find us.
