So just curious, how much rebound does everyone run in their shocks?

Ay...rebound means wt of oil in shocks?

No, how much the shaft rebounds when you fully compress the shock without springs. Essentially the fuller the shock the more rebound.

Hmm..Yet to measure tht. Will update next time.

i use half rebound any more makes the shock pack too much for my liking.

I usually like about a 1/4" of rebound. If I want a little quicker response I will go with none. Its all about feel and oil thickness.

Front.....1/2-3/4 rebound

Rear.....1/4-1/2 rebound

I fill mine all the way to the top......so that is wrong?

Well, it is what I was shown, otherwise, how on earth can you tell what level amounts are let alone how much it changes the viscosity.

I have been messing with shocks for quite some time. I have a plan, I just can't find the specific parts I need. I tried my mods on 1/10 scale and it worked perfectly but 1/8 scale shocks are ticking me off.

the 1/8 shocks are just so easy to work with and to bleed.
anytime easier than my 1/10 onroad shocks.

Well, one of the fast guys I run with told me he runs no rebound. That is why I am asking everybody.

Wow...wht wt oil did he use?

DustinH

Depends on the track.

if oil depends on the track rebound also depends on the track so it just depends on the type of track you are running on

Adrictan download the Hudy setup guide and read through it a few times.
It has plenty info that will help you understand setup etc...

My LHS just got this. 20mm big bores?? I've tried to do a search on this size and it seems like the 1st.

That would be ok for a truggy or truck but a bit overboard on a buggy.
Thats like having LST shocks

It's meant for the Hyper 9 though.

Why would you say that ? Caster threaded big bores and Losi 8ight shocks are 18mm . LST shocks are much bigger , don`t remember the size but no where near the size .

If the Hyper 9 shocks are long enough they should work just fine . The Caster shock caps are 20 mm to put it in perspective .

the picture just makes them look huge ;)

Those look a lot like the Caster threaded shocks. I'm putting a set on my car this weekend... they have "threaded" caps like those Ofna ones.

Depends on where you are measuring. The Caster Big Bores are 16mm inside diameter and 18mm outside diameter. Most people go by the I.D for size. These other ones posted might be 18mm I.D. which would make them 20mm O.D.
