Still cannot see what caster was thinking putting those tires on the K8T? They are huge. The wheels are fine though. Also the foams the kit comes with. They are strips of foam. I almost threw them out thinking they were packing foam to protect the top the the truck in the box! LOL

mikey
02-26-2008, 08:58 PM
LOL, agreed, i think maybe Cam should give some suggestions, and then change the tires into something else, like a 17mm wrench instead of tires...i think that will be cool....what do you think

That sounds good. Could maybe do a Caster fuel bottle. I was thinking since most people run there own wheels and tires that buy a kit maybe if they got rid of the wheels and tires all together and offered maybe a set of optional springs that are a different spring rate. My Hyper ST Pro came with a nice aluminum pipe. Just some ideas:D

Oh man... we have a lot of nice ideas for products

#1 the truck tires can go away... and maybe get replaced with a nice set like the buggy has.

My local hobby shop has a ZX-1 RTR on the display case.

That was easy....

Oh... are you still working on getting the 5 port motors to sell under the Caster name? That would be great to go with a nice pipe.

mikey
02-26-2008, 11:30 PM
well, i never heard about this 5 port engine, are you going to make it for me,

^___^ that will be nice..........well ideals are cool man, !!! well, the nice pipe is a good ideal, we will looking into some nice racing pipe with IFMA or EFRA number.....i am not sure, but i might take some time...i guess....we need to discuss this with Cam..

Good idea to leave out rims and tyres and maybe look at adding 1 piece or the option 3 piece engine mount and the ally upper front arm holder.
Its a good idea since most tyres are available as premounts.
i should know since i have boxes of loose rims that the guys dont buy.

either way kits are still great value :)

I go to photobucket.com and upload my pics to that (you have to make a free account) and then once uploaded it gives you the links to choose for how you want to post it and then clink on insert image here and copy and paste you pic from photobucket. Use the IMG code and paste it here and you pic will show up.

Ye mikey Photobucket is the easiest.
When you upload you will see all your pics will have tags below them.
The tag at the bottom is the image tag that you copy and then past in the thread.

That looks like a cool track... love the trees (shade baby...) looks like it's in the mountains.

The wheels are from a Kyosho ST-RR you can find on ebay for 15.00/set and the wing is a Caster wing. I just dyed both of them blue.

The track is a new track. We had the first race on it it sunday. Took awhile because they were working out the bugs in the transponder system and speakers but it was fun.

Look at the tires and the exhaust. He was full throttling it and I guarantee he made it.
That's the weird thing about gyroscopic acceleration and deceleration. Has a huge effect on the flight characteristics on a 4x4 vehicle.....Think supercross tricks....only a lot more affect.

That's sweet. What shocks are those, buggy?? Just wondering because of the shock spacers. ON the stock truggy shocks you do not need any at all to just make it sit level.

Mr Fusion
04-11-2008, 10:27 PM
Those are the kit shocks with Ofna springs (not sure if they are buggy or truggy springs) that he was running on his ofna truck.

And those wheels are the bigger Losi size too (half up?) with Crime Fighters

msandman
04-11-2008, 10:30 PM
Those are stock shocks with ofna red springs. The stock blue spring feel way to stiff.

vnmsgt
04-11-2008, 10:38 PM
The blue ones do feel stiff when first built but once I ran mine in some the softened up pretty good. Also the front stock springs are too long. I cut mine shorter, took 2 coils off the front and it is now fine.

any one can send me a rim like that, so i can make something like that too to go with truggy in the very soon future....
those wheels are JConcepts wheels just so you know if you want to look them up to get some. They actually sponsor the track I run at and are located nearby.

I need to send you the sportwerks throttle/brake stuff also...or can you figure it out with pictures? There is a pic somewhere else in the forums...I gave rrmccabe a sportwerks setup and he really liked it. He is obviously a newbie. Would work great for RTRs.

That is a awesome setup. I keep forgetting to order 2 for me. I have a old Redcat throttle brake setup on my buggy for now just because it has the adjusters but did not have another for the truggy yet.

Yes, its much better. I think the buggies need the ball joint linkage on the brakes. There is not enough clearance for the rods pushing through with collars. I have took pictures for Mikey. Have not send them yet.

Its nice to have a collar on the throttle rod/sping too so you can adjust how the carb slide pushes back.

The dynamite throttle linkage is nice.

Yea, I had Justin order me a dynamite as well. Looks same as sportwerks but I don't know.

I have a few issues with the Sportwerks. Dont know if its because of the horn that Mike gave me or what.

But my screw head on the bottom is scraping on the top of my servo. Also, I think the rods that go into the brake shafts need to be bent a little as the hole in shaft is too close to the center diff plate.

Do you have any pictures?

OK, 2 things...

1.) over at youtube, you need to put Caster Racing in the titles along with Clermont track.

2.) after carefully reviewing the video evidence, we the jury feel that your a arm breakage problems are 100% due to abuse and you are guilty as charged...

I love the big jumps and berms too, but think it is better when you are just having fun for the huge jumps. If you were racing it is too easy to mess up off of one of those and break you car up pretty bad. You have to try and hold yourself back a little from launching off of one to try ad catch someone LOL! Here is a video of my track in my backyard I use sometimes with friends. I will be building a drivers stand soon and making the track a little bigger.

I would think it would make it so the brake pad pushes evenly against the disc. Without it there, the rod pushing might make one side push harder than the other. That is my guess. I wonder if you should make this a new topic so Razzor sees it for sure....

Did you get a hold of Cam yet?

The o-rings keeps a even gap between the pads and the disc and makes the pads release pressure on the disc especially when the car gets very dirty.
We used to have a hassle with the brakes binding when dirty also rattling excessively when clean.
After this we can set the brakes much better and gain consistent operation.

I am thinking about getting one in the future, and was wondering what your opinion is about the quality of plastic they use for the body shell. Is the plastic too soft, too hard, or is it a perfect balance? The only complaint I have is that it is not as thick as a Proline or JConcepts body. It is not really thin like a RTR body but sort of in the middle. If you have ever seen like a stock Mugen MBX5T or Kyosho ST-RR body, it is like that. I would consider another one if did not find a steal of a deal on a proline or JConcepts. The main reason I got it is because I did NOT want anyone to think it was a mugen or a Jammin (stock body) when I ran it. With the Reckward Tuning body it actually brings attention to the truck and people over to see what it is.

That looks vaguely familiar.... I'll have to get a new team picture with a Fusion when it comes in....

You had better win with that body by the way.....

It will probably scare all the OCM drivers by the way......

They are the older Caster ones..With Mugen Diffs..I have been trying a few things..just to see the difference between the large spur gear and the small gear..just need to finish putting my stock Caster back together..

Ok so you trying out teh 39/12 diff gears.
What would happen if i tried the 43/12 combo and would the gears mesh OK ?
I do understand it will be a quicker transmission ratio.
Was thinking about it for the K8T.

Alternative is what other gears could i use ??? MBX5T i know will work any others ??

Basically what was done is mugen center diff, mugen mbx5T diff gears, BCE mugen chassis, Caster A arms, Caster Shock Towers, sorta of an experiment..just to see..I'm just waiting to "afford" the Caster big bores so i'm using a set of jammin big bores right now. I'm putting a modded (all Caster parts) K8T together to make a comparison between the two.

i tried to get MBx5t diff gears and pinions from local Mugen agent but they dont seem interested in selling me the spares been 3 weeks now and after a few reminders still no quote. So am looking at what other makes might work.
Really like teh idea of running teh smaller center diff gear.

The Caster Drive shafts were used..But we had to machine the rear mugen out drive cups..just a bit on the outside (the inside edge) to keep them from binding, the fronts were fine..no binding. To me the smaller gear set up works great and made the Caster more nimble, it (to me) accelerates a lot faster, Because of the smaller spur gear the motor is moved closer to the center line of the chassis..It's just an experiment to see if it makes the truggy better..I think it does..

Yeah, yeah I know. I will upload one tonight. Might be posted thursday though. For some reason it takes hours to upload it everytime. I do not know why. Last one I did about 8pm and at 10pm was not done. I left my computer on all night and in the morning it was finished. I got some video of Shane, me and of the buggy A-main I believe, maybe truggy too , not sure.
