Just saw this on Neobuggy.

ROAR have updated their Worlds team list, Jared Bockholdt has withdrawn allowing Billy Easton to be promoted from the waiting list to the main list, made up of 72 drivers. There are a couple of big names still on the 'subs bench' that is the waiting list, for example: Tebo, Kortz, Amezcua, Robbers...but next man to move up should a place magically appear is Aaron 'Golf Pro' Waldron!

Seeing some drivers like Easton and Joe Quagraine are going to run other brands for the Worlds meet any possibility someone could be interested in running a Caster ?!?!?! ;)

WTF, CA USA is over 90% of the entrants. They must breed good drivers over there.

Michael R. Paige Lincoln Il USA is from a small town in central illinois. he has a full ride with kyosho, young kid. i think he just turned 12 or 13. can be a little rude though. great driver to watch for his age. i ran with him at silverstate this past year, and have raced with him at rivercity raceway in peoria, il

He's sponsored by kyosho and he's only 13?
WTF?
Wow, that kid must be rich to be able to build up a sponsor-worthy car...

Folks,

I am by no means saying these kids do not deserve a sponsorship!! They could be some of the best up and commers. But one of the trends I have noticed is that some companies have taken to sponsoring the owners or owners children at LHS's. They do this because the owners are more likley to carrie and push their product if they get it for free them selves. I feel this is not the right thing to do because alot of times when it may increase sales for one company the end user does not allways get the product that is best or best for them.

I have raced with Michael that last couple of years at the CRCRC Indoor Gas Champs and the kid no doubt can flat out wheel, but like Jason said u see to many times companies picking up lhs peeps just so they push product. Sad but very true.

i know that form talking to paiges mom in vegas, i believe it was phend she was talking about that he is being raised by him mom only on a small income. they were talking to me about bringing phend to vegas. paiges parents don't race at all, and neither does his older brother.

back to the thread subject........ so will there be a caster car at the worlds???

just making a comment about phend that's all. his mother does not own a hobby shop, so no sponsorship came from the store. just that he is young talented driver that can not make to many big races.

i guess it is a factro.
All the prominent/top racers in SA are family of shop owners/distributors or from well of families so cost is not so much a issue.
Most racers can be rather good driovers but cant afford to travel to big events more often or upgrade to equipment that will compliment there ability.
i guess that goes for most sports anyway.

it could be that the kids are actually pretty good due to having a track in their back yard. i had a deal with trinity when i was about 12 and trust me it came just at the right time. i worked to pay for my stuff even then but i will to this day tell you that trinity makes some of the best brushed motors on the planet!

I had a Kyosho Optima with chain drive when I was about 12. Took it to AZ for Christmas and won Novice first time out... The airplane was invented shortly thereafter...

This just in, it seems that it was a Kyosho Optima that caused the extinction of prehistoric creatures such as the T-Rex and the Sabretooth Tiger. Ridiculously smart and equally rich scientists originally had believed that a large meteor crashed into the planet, thus causing a massive climatic shift, killing millions of creatures and sending Earth into a downward spiral known as the Ice Age. But no, it was just a frikken RC car, and it's all Mike's fault. Thanks, Mike.

in all honesty i actually raced against several of them back in the day but the old tub 10 was just so much better than anything kyosho had at the time it was a disgrace.

and if you really want some old school my first kit car was a kyosho e.p. fantom 4wd 1/12th scale. it was also chain driven.

but enough of the history lesson (in hak's case ancient history:&!@) so who is gonna be the first serious pro driver to turn down the fat paychecks and drive the caster buggy at the worlds?

vnmsgt
07-24-2008, 09:17 PM
I think it would not be too much to ask that Caster could offer a PRO driver a FULL RIDE for that just one race. Everything they need free. Good publicity at least!

hakmazter
07-24-2008, 10:55 PM
and what pro driver would do that? We would have to find an unemployed one...I am sure Kyosho or Mugem or whoever would be like..."sure go ahead and NOT race for us this time..."

Isn't it easier for you guys to just step up? It would mean so much more if a non-famous driver did well anyways....

Its a tall request for someone to try out teh Caster.
pity Paul Coleman is taken up with Mugen.
He ran the ZX-1 at teh 2006 worlds and running it again would have been great to guage his response and feedback after all the changes. After all some of his input went into making the car better.
Maybe post a request/challenge with a bonus of some sort for a B main result :)

How did paul do in 2006? Seems like he moves around alot. When he was with Robitronics driving the Mantis I had one and like it.

He didnt fair well at teh 2006 worlds. He had motor issues if i remember correct he had 2 or 3 Sirio motors fail on him. Think 2 broke there cranks.
Cant recall any mention about hassles with the car though.

I don't think alot of people understand how much equipment and money goes into the worlds race. It's a 12 day race....you would have to have at least 3 or 4 kits broken in and ready to race....several extra built radio trays ready to race(complete with servos), an almost unlimited supply of wheels, tires and fuel. Not to mention all the smaller consumable items we need to race. All that on top of 12-15 days of hotel and food expenses..........and.....to top that off.....you gotta pay the driver. A real Pro level driver that will be competitive in that race will cost probably 5-10k....maybe more.

Caster would supply the cars and the cash....everything else comes from other sponsors or out of the drivers pocket.

But before all that can happen.....you gotta get in the race first. Just anyone can't race in the Worlds. You either qualify or you resume in. You have to have a LOOOOOOOOOOONG list of great results to even be considered.

And the entry fee is $500.00.......also paid by Caster.

That' lot of cash for a small company to put out.
