View Full Version : Caster Short Course 4x4 Truck
Any idea if one will be released soon?
1/10?
I want one...either the Slash 4x4 Platinum or the Jammin...but would prefer to support the Mazzas...

Depends on your definition of "soon". Tomorrow, no. Next week, no. Next month, probably not. Within the next three months, maybe. Within the next six months, likely. Within the next year, most likely.

Yeah, I am torn between waiting for this or getting the Jammin or Traxxas 4wd.
I saw both run this weekend. The Jammin is lighter but has small a-arms, the Traxxas has a BIG one-up on everyone, waterproof electronics, I saw guys rinsing their complete trucks under the water. We had a lot of mud yesterday...I drove my Blitz yesterday and it died on the last lap of the 2nd heat. The ESC failed, maybe due to moisture or overload of the weight of mud...dunno, but i was faster with the Slash, I did qualify 3rd though, but I think would have been TQ if had my old Slash.
BTW, the 4x4 are sickly fast! I have one coming soon, the funny thing is none of the guys in this class this weekend could drive so it was like seeing someone try to drive rocketships, they were ALL over the place.

The whole 1/10 thing is off anyway. They are all the same size as a 1/8 buggy. The late model bodies for the buggies fit the slash.

The owner of one of the local hobbie shops that set up our indoor track took a Ve8 and put a Blitz body on it and runs it in the open mod class.

It sounds like the new 4X4 corr trucks are going to take of around here. Hak, do we have any info on when we might have the caster's ready for sale? If soon maybe i will wait to get a 4X4 caster.

That is where we are at today. I have the Caster black spoked rims with tires (not sure if there was ever a pic... and I have Parma bodies, regular towers, and an aluminum front bumper plate. I think the kit will be $100 retail for everything which also includes another required option or two.
Or technically a person could run a fusion sport and probably get away with using the regular towers and additional body mounts.

we need 1/10th scales at my local track they will not allow 1/8th buggy conversions...so please get a 1/10th model asap...also please let if have 3 sealed diffs(would be nice to be able to tune the diffs for setup purposes)

If it is labeled as a 1/10th kit from Caster then it will be 1/10th.

That would be true, BUT... I think it would not work out so well since a buggy handles so much better than a slash.

Mike the Jammin and Ofna 4x4 corr trucks are built on a 1/8th style chassis, they are just made light weight with 1/10th type arms. The trucks look anemic.
I think it would be smart for Caster to market it as a 1/10th CORR because there is NO 1/8th CORR class and it will be 1/10th in size. If you want to sell them they must be marketed as a 1/10th CORR Truck.

Exactly, they are all the same! They are all 1/8, labeled as 1/10.
REAPER
01-29-2010, 09:51 AM
Its not that they are 1/8 labled as 1/10
They are just actually scaled correctly. I real SC truck is not small, its just so happened that a 1/10 scale version is pretty much exactly the same size as a 1/8 buggy.
The AE 1/8 SC is a buggy on a truggy chassis. They are in fact bigger than all the 1/10 scales out there... So for all those guys out there complaining about 1/8 buggys not being 1/10th scale. They really are confused and should be corrected....

yes that class is booming if you release something like the SC8 you won't get many sales other than few bashers who'd want one
@Reaper I agree..

the main thing that makes the 1/10 short course trucks appear to be so big is that the bodies are large and hang out over the tires. I have an Associated SC10, the arms, towers, etc all are the same as the 1/10 T4 truck, but the chassis is 2" longer. Take the body, big bumpers, and side pods off and then dont look big anymore

OK, I have several ideas already.
We could do a replica of the new DC shoes black and white Subaru that Parrotman would approve or we could do something with a checkered flag and the american flag or something else entirely different.

I do like the way Reaper does the Checkered Flag towards the rear of the body. Anything Black and White is good though. When Reaper does the paint job, you should nickname the Rally Car Project Chassis, the RX-1.5 Reaper. The Truggy could be called the F8-T Macaw...... ;)

I will build up a kit tonight.

I am still gonna wait for the 1/10th 4wd for a conversion instead, 4x4 is getting pretty big around here and on the indoor tracks an 1/8th scale is not going to have a chance against something like the ofna or the rumored sc104, or better yet the just announced durango sc truck.

Oh and I had the Ofna, What a dumptruck.

Of the caster 1/10 4wd buggy that is supposed to come out, as for the ofna being a dumptruck its still better that the only other alternative/ slash 4x4
REAPER

Thats defiantly debatable
Those 12 scale arms on the Hyper are a joke. Along with the flimsy Shock towers. Shock caps. And that drive train is janky. The reason that truck is so damn loud is not the metal spur.
As for converting the supposed new Caster 4x4 into a SC truck. I dont see that happening. It would not work and I personally wouldn't even recommend it.
The 4X4 buggy is a dedicated race car. Any bashing and they will break.
And SC is nothing but a bunch of hacks and bashers for the most part. even if you were the best driver on the planet, the first time someone smacked into you you would be off to the pits to fix many broken parts
interplanet
04-26-2010, 12:13 PM
Thats debatable as well, for serious racing stadium trucks go well as sc trucks with a good driver, look at the kyosho ultima sc. I watched Jerod tebo this weekend here in milwaukee run one, he put down some of the best laps ever on the track. Granted he is a phenominal driver but it goes to show you that sc can be a racers class.
Also I thought they fixed all the problems with the ofna with a goodie bag included.
REAPER

Tebo could drive a frikin shoe box with wheels and turn good laps. And make it look good
A goodie bag cant fix whats wrong with the ofna

depends on the shoe type I suppose...loafer or running shoe?

it would take alot to convert a race 4wd 1/10 buggy to an SC truck, it is alot narrower, alot shorter, doesnt have near the suspension travel needed, etc.
