Just thought I'd ask before having to spend more $$$. Took my starter box to the LHS and was told that one of my motors went bad. The box is pretty much brand new and was wondering if Caster could send me a new one (exchange for bad one)?
Yes, long shot I know but I've done it before with other things (Brand new DS1313 Servo exchange) so I thought I'd ask.

I might have a motor to sent you. I killed a motor once and moded my box to use a single larger 700 size motor. So I should stil have one good stock motor.

Many thanks fusion, plz PM your paypal address and I'll send you the $$$.
Well now the other motor is bad :(:(:( The local LHS set it up to use 1 motor but told me it wouldn't last long like that and he was right. 1 try and the motor started smoking. ARGGGGGG.:mad::mad: Very frustrated right now.
Can anyone recommend a starter motor OR WHATEVER that is a little more durable? The GO engine is tight and even after I heated (200f) it still is hard to turn. I don't want to burn another motor.
Thanks.

Put a brushless in it :p
You could buy one of those 5000 watt super motors that have 7HP

My friend used to Traxxas motors that were the same size he bought at a LHS. I do not remember what from but they were alot cheaper and worked fine in his bump box. I think it was less than 50 buck or something.

Yes... if you try running only one motor (they never should have let you try it) if will smoke it, because it's wired to take the whole 12v. With two motors in series, each motor is only getting 6v.
I have one good motor... the other is smoked. But I might have a couple other motors that would work. I have accumulated odd stuff from places like hosfeltelectronics.com and allelectronics.com and one of those things is some 550 and 700 motors, that I got for my kids powerwheels.
Before you drop $50 on a couple of Traxxas motors, check with me or Cam about getting replacement motors. They are all the same... nothing wrong with the caster ones. The crimp connectors on the other hand, should be soldered or otherwise replaced. We have found that they can have poor contact and burn the wires, so we are hardwiring the boxes.
I have only used my box one day since converting to one big motor, but so far it seems good.
paypal is teamfusion@mchsi.com if you want the one I have.

I'm not sure yet what to do. I saw the Mugen purple starter but it was a little pricey @ around 120.

It's the best box.....my purple box is 4 yrs old. Still running the same wheel and motors.
I'd rather pay a little more and get something I don't have to worry about.

Well just purchased an OFNA 10244 starter box with 2 775 motors. Quality looks good and the build was easy for a rookie like me. Alignment was also easy. ?&^
I will be listing the Caster box on ebay as soon as I fix it. PM for details.
Thanks.

Oh skeller BTW I looked hard at the mugen box but it didn't fit my 12v gel cell battery and it comes with 2 550 motors as compared to the 10244. I also did alot of research online and there are alot of positive reviews on the 10244.
Thanks.
