Every time i go to track and run more then 3-4 tanks the rear drive joint slips off the shaft, but the set screw doesn't seem to come loose. I use plenty of lock tight and I wrench the screw down as tight as I can and also make sure the screw is on the flat part of the shaft.
I want to race every weekend, but I can't keep it together long enough to finish the first heat.
I will be around at the races at Hobby Haven tomorrow, if any of you will be there I will bring it and maybe get some help

I think I found the problem, the set screw was ground down a little so I don't think it was getting good enough contact with the shaft. When I took it apart, I had trouble getting the set screw out so I know that its not coming loose.
I don't think I will have everything ready to race tomorrow, but I still would like to meet up with some of the local Caster guys to get some tips.

Mine did the same thing on my K8T. Came loose 4 times my first time out and I thought I had it time. Once removed the whole rear diff case with the drive shaft I found out I could get more leverage and it actually scewed in another 1.5 turns down and really tightened up. Have not had a problem since.

the set screw only came loose once, but I think when it did it rubbed the end of it down enough that it wasn't seating tight enough on the shaft so it would rub loose. Today whhen i took it apart the screw locked in super tight, but not much of it was through the hole. the shaft had spun enough to really wear it down. No matter how hard I tried, i couldn't get it any tighter.
I should have checked it one of the first times it happened, I would have saved myself alot of headaches

Another trick is to put the drive shaft on and make the input shaft with a fine tip permanent marker, then remover the input shaft out of the diff housing and drill a small divet into the input shaft. This is a "one try" trick so make sure your drive shaft is exactly where you wwant it to be. Works every time with no problems of the drive shaft coming loose again. ?&^

The set screw and cup have oil on them....remove the screw and clean ALL areas with nitro force, denatured alcohol or other similar cleaner. After doing that....I always apply loctite then put that piece to the side to dry. I like to get some residual, dried loctite in the hole before the final installation.

I never of thought of doing loctite like that. That's a great idea of cleaning it off first though too.
