& here it is:

Does the K8T (newer version) come with a SPLIT center diff mount? Oh, PRO KIT 2010. Just sitting here getting my ducks in a row as to what all I'll need BEFORE it's 1st outing!

Thanks!
Greg J.

Split? You mean the top piece separat from the bottom? Then yes. It is 4 pieces total for the mount not including to top plate. Your best bet is to get the aluminum center diff mount and just use the bottom so you can loctite the screws good. The plastic one tends to want to strip after a couple removals.

Thanks for the quick reply VNMSGT!

I was wondering. Already added the aluminum 1's to my cart!

Dont use the top aluminum mount. I cannot figure out how to keep the screws in for the brake pads from coming out. They thread in so easy with your fingers that the vibration would just make them come out in a half lap.

I'll be glad to tell you HOW to permanently CURE that problem!!!

Use a bit of PLASTIC MODEL GLUE on the ends of the bolts. THIS will dampen the vibration & HOLD them where you want it to stay!

I also use it for ANYWHERE in plastic that after being removed & re-installed, starts getting a bit "sloppy". Testor's Glue fixes it!

That is a secret I've had for many years! Discovered it by shear accident! had a stripped out screw going into plastic (T3 if I remember right!), & all I had was that. Tried it & discovered just how great it was!!!

I've also used teflon plumbers tape on little things like that and it works great.

I too worried about that still coming loose. What about if you need to make a small adjustment to those screws? Then they will free up whatever you used in there and you would have to remove the top mount and redo it to keep it nice and tight IMO. I'll just stick to half and half lol!

So would it be BETTER to keep the PLASTIC 1's?

Reason being, MY 6T was plastic, had it almost a full year, & EVERYTHING is still as tight as new!

Depends on how you are with your truck I guess. If your 6T ones were fine then you might be ok with the Caster plastic ones. I have spoken to numerous 6T owners here where I am and they have the same problem I did with the bottom mount stripping after removing the top mount a couple times. They replace there mounts every 3-4 races. I wont do that and just get the bottom mount aluminum and be done with it.

SEEMS like something I'll have to find out for myself I guess.

I remember the X5T's were weak & brittle. HAD TO change them a lot! Then went ALL METAL & no more problems!

As with everything, there are varying opinions on what is best. I guess that is why some people buy Caster, some Losi, some HPI, etc.... and some think their brand is the best and others the worst.

I we could figure out what everyone wanted, then we would be really cool!
