Solution ?
All 4 shocks on truggy are the same size. Make sure your front shocks are on the outer holes on the lower arms and your shock mount on the shock tower can be move to a upper hole to lower the truck down too. Do you have any shock spacers on the front shocks yet? If so then take them off and see if that helps.
zigzag

hi
I don't have spacer on front shocks ... the rear shock are great !
But I think this front shock are too much long for me :( I don't understand why this shocks are same.
On other Truggy, the front and rear are not the same size !

some just have different designs I guess. I think your shock oil might be too thick. Even with the same length shocks it should still sit about level.

I don't have a gear to look at now... did you make some holes bigger?
Shocks: I checked mine last night... and they were 121mm long (hole to hole) and looks about like yours there ^
I think maybe it needs the weight of all the running gear, and it will be fine. It's just too much pre-load with the chassis empty.

Looks like he made every other hole bigger. Also I think you are right (fusion) about it not having any weight on the truck. My shocks on my K8T look the same too. ZigZag, do not worry about it right now until you get the motor and stuff in.
ZigZag... you do not like the stock tires that came with the K8T??? LOL!

I put the Mugen hing pin on it ...
I don't find a solution for my front shochs:mad: Cam said me, to put the front Mugen shochs ...
I'm waiting for my Caster:
BB shocks from KMW
Mugen Box radio
Mugen Fuel Tank (150cc)
Mugen Stone Guard
Mugen engine mount
Engine C6 T7 + TKO ceramic
My new radio : Spektrum DX3R (old : React)

The mugen stone guards will not fit. They have 4 holes to screw in onto the chassis and the Caster has 3 holes. You will have to modify them to fit. The Caster ZX1-R buggy stone guards are a direct fit perfectly. I bought them and put them on my K8T

Mr Fusion
03-14-2008, 09:07 AM
zigzag,
Why did you get Mugen guards and Mugen radio box?
It should be easy to drill a new hole to make the guards fit. It should work even though the screws won't be in the correct spots on the guard.
The KMW shocks I think are sweet.

Hey zigzag, did you ever take a look at the mugen mbx5t before you bought the K8T, if you did what do you think of it compared to the mugen? I find it funny how some people think the mugen is SOOOO much better but in all honestly there is only one thing in my opinion that is and that is the captured hinge pins. The Carbon fiber, and smaller spur gear is all owner preference. Some people think the mugen has better aluminum but do not know that it has the same 7075 as the mugen too.
zigzag
03-17-2008, 08:53 AM
Hi vnmsgt,
yes i compare this two truck... I think the Caster is very good, but i don't have racing whith it yet.
I think the captured hinge pins is necessary on Caster if you racing ! I put it on mine !
For the ratio gear, i don't know if the Caster is better than Mugen ... I try it and i say you what i think !

I do know though that a lot of guys are liking the Mugen and RMV progressive springs.
Some swear by the RMV.

03-18-2008, 10:18 AM
Mikey... Cam and I have been "studying" the shock towers on the truck and buggy. :)
We think the truck needs to have the new style buggy towers, both front and rear.
And then get the old style towers back for the buggy.
Also: the buggy has had two different front shocks... one shorter and one longer. The longer front buggy shocks would be good on the truck, since the rear shocks are a bit long on the front of the truck.
I'm sure you have talked to Cam about it... or will soon?
mikey
03-18-2008, 10:34 AM
sure, guys, if you guys can give me any ideal of the drawing what position of the holes...etc...we are very happy to change soon in the future production,
and people who buy the old version of course, you will get a updated for free for the new shoock towers..etc..but i need some of your guys' opinions and ideals, like
the shock spring lenght, and ..etc...

Why do you say that? Wouldn't that just make the shocks more laid down? Not that it would be bad but just curious. I have noticed that my K8T does sit a little high in the front and I am only running 30wt shock oil and no preload spaceres. Maybe I should try cutting the spring down like zigzag did. My axles sit just above level and on my other trucks I like them just below level.
vnmsgt
03-18-2008, 03:51 PM
Hey zigzag you got a pic of the very front of your truggy so I can see how low it sits now. Just want to make sure if I cut 3 coils off like you did that it does not sit too low.
razzor
03-18-2008, 03:54 PM
What is the difference between the old and new shock towers on teh buggy ???
Whats the new shock springs like ??
The older cars came with the Blue springs that were the hardest available from Caster but where also teh softest you could fit on the buggy.
Most of the guys changed to Mugen greys locally and again teh progressive springs where the ticket.
vnmsgt
03-18-2008, 04:45 PM
Supposedly I got one of the old buggies and I got red springs in my kit.
Mr Fusion
03-18-2008, 08:47 PM
Well, the new buggy towers look like they would be a good fit for the truck when you compare where the holes are. I think the front tower with the long buggy front shocks (there is a long and short version) is a good match. I don't think the angle would be different on the outside hole.
I'm planning to put this setup on my truck and get some pics for any who are interested, so we'll see how it goes.
Cam has all the stock kit stuff on his truck and I think it looks fine. The truck looks pretty killer just like it is. I'm just checking out some other options since the front truck shocks barely fit.
vnmsgt
03-18-2008, 08:56 PM
Well I cut my front springs too but not as much as zigzag. I only cut off two coils and has the front end sitting level now. Also moved my shocks to the inner hole on the arms and upper outer holes on towers to stand them up more. Will see how it goes this weekend on my track.
Mr Fusion
03-18-2008, 10:26 PM
If you are cutting springs, wouldn't cut very much because it does change the spring rate.
Removing coils has the same effect as a stiffer spring.
razzor
03-19-2008, 01:15 AM
Thats right.
less coils is generally harder.
vnmsgt
03-19-2008, 05:54 AM
That I why I only did 2 coils instead of 3. The truck now sits how I like it. Does not feel more stiff it all. I know it probably is a little but I do not think anything I'll notice.

yes my caster is a mix :o !
I think the ackerman is not enought thick. And the problem is a sping of save servo.
The mugen spring is more hard, than Caster spring. Also you can not tightened it than caster spring.

Did you notice a big difference in the smoothness of the K8T in rough sections when you install the the big bore shocks compared to the stock ones? I am thinking of buying the Jammin big bores but not sure if it is worth it.

I have a problem whith original shocks, and i can compare.
But this one are very smooth and work great !
I think the Kyosho Big bore is a better issue than Jammin !

I think so too but the kyosho shocks are super expensive!! I was thinking of taking them off of my Kyosho ST-RR and trying them on the K8T but have not decided yet.

Cool. Did you have to change out the front and rear diffs to the mugen ones also? You also took a chunk out of the front arms but those wheels turn like crazy, Your servo still turns them that much with your electronics on? I just notched my arms out a little and it helped. I can imagine your way would be alot better.

Holy crap! That thing should turn on a dime. Wondering if you helped or hurt the reputation for amazing handling by doing that......Do you have a problem with barrel rolling in corners now? If not, great idea....
zigzag
04-30-2008, 03:45 AM
yes i change all diff whith mugen diff (front/ central/ rear).
the gear ratio Caster is :
(43/13) + ( 62/13) = 15.73
The Mugen ratio:
(46/10) + (48/13) = 16.98
The Caster whith Mugen diff has more speed. It's seems very more light !
I'am happy !
Mr Fusion
04-30-2008, 08:26 AM
Put a 12t clutch bell on the Caster gears = 17.05 ratio
(43/13) x (62/12)
Just a thought... though I like the looks of the smaller spur gears too. Some think the large spur setup is better.
mikey
04-30-2008, 09:01 AM
well, if we do come up with a smaller Super Gears...
what gear should i do , do you guys have any suggestions....
54?? or ??something else or 52?
zigzag
04-30-2008, 01:40 PM
I think the small gear is better !
Less mass in rotation = better accélération !
the Engine is more near the axe central of chassis .
You can read the small conversion whith the Ofna X1 CRT ratio : The same ratio than Caster.

Hey all, finished the K8T this evening, took some pics of the finished new hotness and I'll post um when I can. Hey vnmsgt, the right rear wheel hub nut was cross threaded, threads on the hub and nut both were mangled, possibly from the factory. I dont blame Caster and I certainly dont blame you, just an fyi. Might wanna check any others you have. Course it may have also happened in shipping being knocked around. An easy way to combat any shipping damage on the hubs is to turn the nuts in till it hits the ends of the threads (box is pretty narrow, my hubs had almost rubbed holes clear through the box). All the wheel nuts were on the very end. Like I said I don't blame Caster at all, things slip through...you should all see some of the ARF airplanes I've gotten....wing bolts drilled crooked...any number of cross threaded bolts. My TTR had a cross threaded lock nuts on the steering arm...it happens. I do want to say...I LOVE this truggy, it looks like it's screaming sitting still. Finish is better than my TTR (which I'm now selling to my brother-in-law to buy Big Bores when they get here and a number of other upgrades). Oh, on the wheel hubs, no worries, I had some +16mm's for an 8T with 17mm hubs which went right on...shhhh don't tell anyone.
This isnt the "ode to vnmsgt" body tho, this is the first one I whipped up. Stock plastics were dyed black. I haven't put the other stickers on the wing just yet and I need to clean up the wheels, you get the idea tho. :D The paint on the body is actually a metallic candy apple red that fades to black at the back. Pics turned out a little bright and I didn't feel like editing the saturation and brightness lol.

Yeah, everything is in; List.
LRP Spec 3 Truggy (originally bought for my TTR ST-1, but I dropped it in the Caster instead since I already had it and I'm selling the TTR)
14T Clutch Bell
Thunder Tiger tuned exhaust (read a lot of info on the tuned pipe and several of the pro type guys are using it, can't beat it for 45 bux, it's basically a 086 or 053, figured I'd try it out).
Hitec 5955 Ti gear 333oz steering, Spektrum I just happened to have needing a home (690 i think it is...or 650.. i forget) on the throttle.
Dynamite Throttle/Brake linkage.
The 8T +16mm wheel hubs.
7kFront/10kCenter/3kRear on the diff fluids (Center has a very small amount of seepage, prolly pull it back out and try a diff gasket, or some rtv to seal it up).
Trying out Losi 40wt on the shocks, we'll see how that go's.
Stock wheels and tires for now, have some proline velocity's (black) i'm gonna throw some bow ties or crime fighters on. Stockers will be fine during break in and a little running afterward with friends.
No worries on the wheel hubs vnmsgt, like I said, I don't blame you or Caster either one. It was an easy fix since I already had some hubs. The Hubs are also a black/dark gun metal lookin color, look pretty freakin sweet anyway lol.

As far as the differentials go, using the large gasket that comes in the kit is the way to go. In order to seal the diff case well use some GMK Supply Mobil 1 Grease on the outdrives. Also, shim the outdrives, if needed, as well as the ring and pinion gear to make sure they mesh correctly
