I thought about this one shane but the horizon hobby shootout in IL is the same weekend. I guess I'm going to hit that one just cause it's a bit closer and some buddies north of me are going so the expense bill wont be that bad.

What hurts me is I am the only person at my dealership that works on motors, ski's, Mules and Rhino's so I am always busy and nobody else works on them but me so its hard to get the days off.

I have a set amount of vacation days that I can take off. All will used up on week days though I almost never have to work sat. I usually get about 13 paid days off a year. 1 week goes to the family vacation, 3 days to Indoor Gas champs every year, and the others distributed out to other races that just pop up I would want to attend. As of this week they put us on 4 10 hr days so I get monday off now. I am running short on time to take off but things usually slow down around fall so I may try to slide in a yound boy move!!! cough...cough.....cough lmao :)

I get vacation days too but since I get paid like a manager at my job we do not get paid for our vacation days. You just get time off with no pay! I get 2 weeks but never want to take off because I get no pay!

What, serious no paid vacations. I thought that was standard in a benefits package. Is that standard in your industry or just company specific?

Just company. The owner thinks since he pays you alot more like managers and stuff then you get no paid vacations, just days off.

I just hope they have it vented a little better then last year. I pitted in-side. What a mistake!!!!!
skeller
08-11-2008, 10:52 PM
I've got 6 industrial fans lined up to help with that.
I pitted inside last year also....the dust bothered me worse. The PNB in Atl to me was worse with nitro fumes.

08-12-2008, 06:43 PM
Ya, there was NO WAY I was going to pit in side there (PNB)!!!!! When you walked in, it was just a low dense fog. Not to mention it was freezing in there. But on the other hand, it had some bad a$$ jumps!!!!!!:D:D:D

Ok what exactly does that mean? $1000 will be shared for 1st 2nd 3rd in all the pro classes?
So if there Truggy and Buggy then there's a total of 2k? Or is it $1000 split everywhere?

Right now it's 1k split 1-3...We're pulling for 1k to 1st....$500. to 2nd...and $250. to3rd. That's what we want to see...very possible at this point. It's hard to throw those numbers out everywhere until you know fo sho how many entries you have....that's why it's been posted like it has.

OMG, 725 miles from here to the track. If I get a generous 20 mpg, fuel will cost me roughly $300 here and back. A$$uming 3 night stay at $100 / night plus food / beer :) that's another $300. Extra clutches, pads, tires $100.
That brings my total to around $800 (with toll & pit stops). If I'm a 10 to 1 dog to win $500, I still earn a net loss of -$300. Oops forgot to subtract a free lunch. Net loss would be -$290.

Thursday is practice...a mix of open and controlled.

Saturday the mains will be run....starting with the lower mains which I think are all 10 min. below the B main.

You can do that...just not pro and sportsman in the same class type.
Cool vnmsgt, bring your buggy to pro. My offer still stands if ya want it.
Some of the fastest drivers in the eastcoast as well as the south usually run this race.
Great!, a good assessment of your current skills ?&^

Ok guys, I think it's official. There will be 4 Florida drivers attending this race as follows: Lowlife88(AKA Troy) team driver, Corey Gladish-Team Driver, vnmsgt-team driver, and bc24fl. Skeller, what kind of pitting arrangements can you make for us. We'll have a trailer but I would like to set up a easy-up in side the area as well. Probly by the left side bay door. Unless you have a better spot for us.

Anyway, my wife quickly said it's ok but from 13 years of marriage I'm sure something will come up. I will tell you for sure at the end of the week.
vnmsgt, you disappoint me. There is no real reason why you can't throw that buggy in pro. If you were my son I'd kick your @ss for not even trying. You may never get that opportunity again. Your biggest competition is not the "fast" racers but your head. Getting those neg thoughts out is half the battle. That pretty much applies to anything in life.

I was looking at the track pics and it looks really nice. I would have loved to be there racing sportsman in the a main.....(inside joke) and this one pic caught my attention.
I have been staring at it for the last 10 minutes trying to figure it out. It is almost like a puzzle or something and for the life of me, I can't figure it out.
I can't stand not understanding something and I am almost embarrased to ask, but since I am not a hardcore rc racer, will someone please explain this?
Is it an osha deal, fire marshall regulation?
Is it a southern version of a pop up ad?
Is it a protest against Jeff Foxworthy?
Is it proof he is right?
Is it true redneck protection?
Only 3 words come to mind.....

Dust is the answer.....and lights.
Dust is terrible at indoor events and you hate to have it all over your stuff.
Me personally....I have 4 flourescent lights in the top of my tent to help me see better.

I always put my tent up indoors. For different reasons. If it's in the summer like shane said it keeps the dust and stuff off your stuff and you can hang lights from it. I also have somewhere to hang my banner. In the winter time I have sides that go up all the way around the easyup and I can put a small propane heater in there and it stays pretty cozy, not to mention it doesn't let just anyone walking by 5 finger discount your stuff laying all over the table. I have been to alot of big races that just pit everyone down tables set side by side, stuff litterally laying EVERYWHERE. If it wan't intentional there is just to much going on to watch all your stuff and someone may pick up something of yours by accident. I just like the privacy of the tent. JMO

There were lights provided above and no one used a banner. Now, if the easy ups had team logos on them, then I would have been thinking....that is bad ass....
I do understand that they probably make it feel like you have a 10x10 private space.
We obviously need a Caster pop up tent so we look more professional than everyone else....I also want to work on team driver polo style shirts that are embroidered. Might as well look classy and see what that does...

I saw it. Just think if you put as much effort into your driving as you do your ego.....
By the way, allow electric next year so I don't have to worry about Chris breaking parts, you posing instead of racing, and Trent getting lifeflighted out of there. I'll just come down there and win my own prize. I figure that if Clayton can improve over a year, I can too.

I saw it. Just think if you put as much effort into your driving as you do your ego.....
Uh oh, I think skeller may have to listen to this until the next SIC.

By the way, allow electric next year so I don't have to worry about Chris breaking parts, you posing instead of racing, and Trent getting lifeflighted out of there. I'll just come down there and win my own prize. I figure that if Clayton can improve over a year, I can too.
I'm going to bed. it is 1 up here.
I didn't even have time for my ego last week....

Yeah, but you know what, you helped us represent in a good way. I hope some of the people over there end up being more friendly over the Lewis deal. Tony gets bumped up to pro and life moves on. It would be nice if you drive for us next year at it though.....I need someone to beat Tony on the track....
I'm just glad I wasn't in your shoes for it all......

there was an issue up north last winter when I was at a race in Ohio. The grand prize for the sportsman winner was a 50% panther tire deal. No one really knew how it would be policed for the sandbagging. The track was never changed for the race I attended so they knew about what a pro class driver from the c mains lap time would be. They set that lap time as the breakout time for the sportsman buggy. None of the sportsman drivers knew this. After the first qual they went to the drivers that broke out and told them they need to run pro. Funny thing one of them was the track owners son! He didnt like it but it was only fair.

Here are some photos I took of Lewis receiving the caster buggy from Tony at outacontrol raceway.
Lewis is very happy and can’t stop talking about it. His mom was overjoyed with tears. They're very appreciative. Chris and I are taking Lewis to a race tomorrow to run the buggy.

Just so the rest of you guys know, Lewis was chosen to receive a Caster Racing ZX1-R RTR buggy from Tony Pattishaw after winning it at the SIC Race is Alabama and really did not have a use for the buggy so all of us got together to find someone who could use it. I would like to thank Tony for what he did and I spoke to him today and is a really nice guy IMO from what I have seen the last couple days even will all the controversy going on about the race. He did a good thing today.

Mad props to Tony and everyone else who got this kid that car. I'm sure he'll be in good hands with Chris helping him out. And he will have direct access to Caster parts too. It's win win for everyone.

Southern Invitational Challenge Grand Prize Giveaway.....
From: Michael Mazza (mike@casterracingusa.com)
Sent: Sun 10/19/08 8:48 PM
To: Philip Mortstedt (philip@neo-buggy.net)
Caster Racing would like to announce that Lewis Romano from Florida was the Southern Invitational Championship Grand Giveaway Prize winner. Lewis won a brand new Caster Racing ZX-1R RTR with upgraded servos and Fusion Fluids professionally installed by the guys at Caster Racing USA.
The Caster RTR buggy was presented to him by Sportsman A main winner Tony Pattishall, Brian Bennett, and Holeshot Hobbies owner Chris Figueroa acting for Caster Racing. Lewis also was given a gallon of Jack's fuel, glow plugs, and a fuel bottle from Andy Ousley, owner of Outacontrol Raceway so he can hopefully put it out on the track Sunday morning. There was a discussion between several of the drivers who attended the event and Lewis was immediately agreed upon as the rightful prize winner. Lewis currently races 1/10 scale and wants to jump up into 1/8 scale.
Congratulations Lewis for winning the buggy. It is apparent that there is something that the older guys see in you that caused you to earn this buggy. Now for a note from Caster Racing. Most importantly, do good in school and get a good education. Always try your best and do the right thing. Those 2 simple things will take you the farthest in life.
Also know this, Caster Racing will be keeping an eye on you and if you keep practicing and doing the right things, maybe we can help make you the next Jerod Tebo.
Caster Racing would also like to announce that they are going to sponsor the 2009 S.I.C. and provide even better prizes. So everyone down south, remember this giant indoor race coming next October.
Picture is of Tony and Lewis.

Note: his first name is spelled Luis. I made an incorrect assumption about his first name and only verified his last name. Sorry about the mistake.
I also asked him to come visit these forums when he can. He says he doesn’t have internet at home but he can go on when at his uncles.

Yes, that was me, sorry about that. I verified the spelling of his first name today.
I'll have some photos of him racing the buggy shortly. He took 4th in the A-main. This was the first time he has ever been able to complete a race.

Yes it was nice to see him finish a race! He was really happy today and even more with the Caster! Great showing today for Caster with both Luis's buggy and my K8T in the A-main's!

Ok, I sometimes get computers that people no longer want so if I can get one and the kid is interested I can send him one.
