Hey guys, before I open up the DS1313 servo what are my chances of repairing it. If I manually move the horn the gears are intact and move freely, if I connect it to the receiver nothing works. With the symptoms I've described what do you think is wrong with it? My guess is that the motor inside burned out?

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Have you tried the servo on other channels on your reciever? If so, send that puppy in!

eh, can't send it in because I sanded off the top-side of the server because the linkage was touching.... so I don't think they'll return it. We'll see perhaps I'll send her anyway ?&^.

The Ace servos are very difficult to work on. You have to desolder some points on the board just to get the guts out without damaging the pot.

Gears are a breeze to replace, but that's about it.

Unless it's a break in the wire somewhere that you can find and fix, just send it in.

Yep - internally they are nigh on impossible.
Its stunning to see what looks like hand assembled board rather than machine assy.

If it comes to it maybe get a new upper case for it to disguise it but it should not be a problem (least not in the UK)

change teh case cover and send it in .
From what ive read on other forums Ace has a very good return policy.

That is what I did on a hitec servo (change case covers) and they warranteed it. Mine rubbed too.

Meh :( , gotta take apart the steering servo but good idea to change covers.. thanks.

Is it true analog is better for throttle?

While doing research on servo's I bumped into this

ooooohhhhhhh........ well I guess people learn from there mistakes! I had a Losi 8ight when I bought the Caster and next thing I new the Losi was for sale! I do not miss it one bit and think the Caster is way easier to drive and way more stable. Alot better car IMO.
