can you tighten the stock rtr suspension/spring or do you have to get a new spring??

What exatly do you mean by tighten spring? Are you wanting to raise the ride hight of your car? If thats the case all you have to do is add some more preload spacers above the spring. If you think your car is too soft and doing alot of bottoming out and such, then yes you will need to purchase stiffer spings, or you may simply try replacing the oil in the shocks with a thicker weight.
What are you looking to accomplish?

i was looking to have a stiffer suspension to stop from bottoming out on smaller jumps. the suspension is too soft. i was wondering if you needed new springs for stiffening suspension or if there is a way you can make it stiffer byt tightening something.

Tightening the spring down is only going to raise your ride hight, causing your buggy to be more top heavy and have more of a tendency to want to traction roll. The best thing for you to try if your car is bottoming out is a thicker shock oil, or a smaller hole piston. This will create more pack (not allow the shock to compress as quickly) when hitting small bumps or landing off huge jumps.

Suspension should not be too soft on that at all. I ran the stock shocks for awhile and I was jumping bigger jumps. Try using the shock spacers to raise the ride height or using thicker oil like 60 wt.

Your dogg, I put 35 and 40 for front and rear respectively and mine bottoms out too. I may try 60 all around or 60 f / 50 r.
My shocks RTR were empty and had no oil so you should see a big difference when filling it up.

NO OIL?!? Did you hear that Hak? Maybe we should check into that. I do know some had oil because I had one that leaked in the box and I removed it and filled it back up with oil. The shock cap was just loose.

Have you seen the price of oil? We are pulling it out of kits and selling it on the black market.....trying to figure out how to remove the copper wiring from the servos and fill the jackets with water....

My diffs didn't have fluid in them either? But I thought this was normal as the manual or the site says to replace fluids was recommended.

Yeah most R/C's including RTR's do not come with diff fluid. Some have grease and some are dry.

id suggest to go to a 45wt oil on the front and a 40wt on the rear.
60wt will be a bit too hard

It is nearly impossible to keep an 8lb object 1" off the ground from bottoming out. What it does after bottoming out is more important. If you are racing, locking up the suspension to keep from bottoming out causes other issues as well. As long as the car bottoms out and doesn't pogo stick back up you should be fine. The chassis is thick, it can take the punishment. When it wears out, and inevitably it will, it will just need to be replaced.

well its alittle to soft. it could be stiffer were it wont bottom out as hard and fast.
