Well, It was a long weekend at the 2011 Jconcepts indoor summer nats. Didn't get back to the hotel until 12:15am Sunday morning after 3 rounds of quals. Got up at 8am for 1 more round of quals and the mains. I fought with my blitz all weekend long but my e-buggy was dialed.

We went to the local track tonight , for our first race with the Caster, we just got it together a few days ago and only tested it once. Due to the HRH SHOOTOUT. It was a small turnout, Brendan was the only 1/8 scale so they ran him in 10 and under. He won but we don't even run that class with the 10th scale stuff.

Anyhow car worked good, couple more changes we will be good. quite a few people came to check out the car and have been coming on the forum and lurking in the 4x4 sc thread. All I got was " whens it coming, Brendan gonna drive one?, I wanna see that thing" even with small turnout 4x4 class was full, can't wait to get Brendan one.

In other news Brendan was picked up by upgrade , I will be ordering a clear body this week and sending it to upgrade for wrap fitting.

Hope everyone had a great 4th and see ya at the races.

Have you tried to get Upgrade yourself? I know a while back, ANYONE that put in a sponsorship request, including me, got a semi deal of 25% off!

Lauren, who works for Upgrade and races with us locally, called us last week and gave us a sponsorship deal.

I still would like to send radio post a resume, but how heavy is the controller? Bren had a KO for a bit, but he couldnt hold it for the long 1/8 scale mains so we went back to the DX3s.

As you can see by the results i pulled off the track at the 12 min mark and was in 1st place. There was only 2 e-truggy's so we had to run with the nitro.;) Same thing I'm going to do to Greg Johnson:&!@
caster pro truggy, viper motor, 20c truerc battery, and Panther tires.

This was a 20 minute main but at the 6 min mark we had a small dirt devil go throw and lifted 4 easyup's into the sky and we had to stop the race:eek:. Sucked because i checked out and was gone. Then we restarted the race and they made it 15 min. I took 2nd but my batt died on the last lap. Had to beep it around the track.

Raced at Wilkesboro this past weekend and had a real good time. I ran e-buggy e-truggy(with the nitros) and 4x4 sct class........ended up 2nd in sct class.....long story. 1st in e-buggy class and got 3rd in truggy. You can see where i changed batteries and kept running even though they did run us in 2 seperate classes (technically i got 1st in e-truggy but the other 2 broke, so it was just me and the 2 nitros)

The radio is freakin NICE! Kinda puts me in mind of 35% futaba 4PKs & 65% DX3. I know MY Futaba recievers would NOT bind with it, so I'm guessing its pulse width is Airtronics/JR based. (dammit!)

Ran my first race this weekend in Coral Springs, FL. It was the ROAR Region 4 Championships. Raced 1/10 2wd Truck and 1/8 E Buggy. Signed up for E Truggy as well but they did not have enought entries. Qualified 3rd overall in 2wd and 2 laps into the A main my servo shredded its gears and locked up. Made it to the A main in E buggy and finished 7th overall. Was a great time and thought I did pretty good for the first time on clay. I had the only caster out there and had a few guys come look and they all gave some good comments on it. Looking forward to running much more clay tracks. I normally just run club racing at our local dirt track but after seeing how it handled on clay Im hooked.

Bren wanted to run the last race of the series at Controlled chaos so we went to the track with a new set up and different rear springs. The car handled GREAT!!

Unfortunately there was only 2 1/8 scales so instead of running with the kids today, I whined my way into letting them let him run with the PRO 4 class. It's a tight track so there was not much advantage if any against the 4X4's on this track. There was 10 total racers. He led for about half the race and made some mistakes to finish 3rd.

All in all it was a good night, the car is really working good right now. I will post some pics when I figure out how to do it (my daughter is gonna show me)

Anybody wanting to race Vegas anytime soon, I want to do a Fri to sun thing....Vegas rc friday, 702 sat....come home on sun?????

Looks like Mark is gaining ground. Maybe you should send him out east first to protect your image. If he wins, then you can say they are not a challenge. If he is close, you can say that you would probably just win, and if he smokes them, then you can tell them that Nevada is as fast as California.......lol..........lol..........lol.... .

With the 2 cell LiFe battery, it honestly isnt heavy! No where near a 3PKs weight! OR the massiveness of the KO!

Well, I think I'm BACK. I have been off pace with my 2wd sc truck for about the last 2 months. I went racing Friday with my new Kyosho but the ball diff is bad and i didn't do that well. Went racing today with a gear diff "30k" in it and GAME IS ON.:D The normal fast guys where there and i TQ'ed.:) I also went up 1 tooth on my pinon and made a good difference. Viper 10.5 motor still was only 120ish after 6 minute qual's. Broke a steering servo arm in the main.:(
Also TQ'ed and won e-8th buggy but there was only 3 of us:(
We had 3 heats and a main today:)

Rick my blitz was lightning fast with the gear diff over the ball diff. Had guys asking how i had my ball diff set for that kinda speed. Told them no ball diffs here all geared. They told me bs so i had to show them.

ya, my blitz ran great with a gear diff also but it was just time to move on from it. I have a gear diff in my Kyosho now but as soon as i get my ball diffs back from Marcus i will be trying them again. I do know that all the fast guys at the Jconcepts race i was at where running ball diffs. We will see. My servo saver was locked and that's why i broke 2 steering arms and stripped 1 servo.:(

If you are seeking additional fractions of a second, ball diffs are the way... Ball diffs have better corner speed. That is the place where most savings hides... :)

Raced at final round of GRRS on saturday in both 2wd stock sc and 1/8th e-buggy. In short course qualifing round 1 I had a really good race and led the 1st few laps and eventually was passed but managed to finish second. Round 2 finished 3rd. In the main I was racing with the lead pack but made a mistake getting stuck on a pipe far from any turn marshalls and only managed to finish 5th. In 1/8th e-buggy I finished qual 1 in 5th place, had a better run in rd. 2 and finished 2nd. There was an A and B main and I qualified 7th in the A-main. I had a good race and finished 6th in the main. For the final series points I finished 5th overall in 2wd stock sc, and 7th overall in 1/8th electric buggy. Had a great time running this series and look forward to racing at some other venues the rest of this summer.

Had a great race day saturday. Packs and speedo performed great.
qualed 2nd finished 2nd

i gave the leader a run for his money for a little while we tangled and droped back to 2nd and 3rd.
Jason then pressured me and i finally wrecked after 4 laps of close bumper to bumper action.

got my self back up to second and put it on cruise to finish me and jason put a whole lap on the field.

i got something for him next time!

exactly. our current lineup is not pro racer right now. there are pockets of 1/8 electric, fewer pockets of 1/10 4wd buggy, and virtually nothing for 1/18. Speaking of which, I wish I had time to build the ultimate 1/18 sc. Think about our 1/18 pro that no one wants combined with sc stuff........

I ordered a few conversion kits just in case.

Excuse me???

You have a problem driving???

Wake up and smell the coffee. If I could drive like you can, (Hmm maybe after several years of practice) I wouldn't complain. You need
to get your tuning skills up to snuff and you will be I think headed to the pro level.

Not pro racer..... Pro racer......such as "I am not pro abortion" "I am pro second amendment"

My opinion is that our cars are very close and can be competitive, but they are not exactly what racers want and are slightly behind the times. Also the lineup is not pro racer. If we had a 2wd 1/10 buggy and a 2wd sc truck and our 1/8 lineup, I would say we are 100% racer driven at that point. Having a 1/10 4wd class in the US is very limited today.

The 1/8th is a great car, as you and Rick know and to not ruffle feathers of other compnaies Ill keep them nameless but I have had my 2 travel buddies both drive Brendans 8th and they both have told me they would have no problems putting that car on the track at any big race.

As far as lineup goes, their 10th 2wd buggies are like a drivers license to them , never leave home without it. SCT sometimes, 10th 4wd buggy only big races, neither of them race 4x4 sct

Whiterock, NM.

Short Course Shootout

Not sure how other places do it, but today we ran 2 quals each of 13.5/open/4wd/Novice Short Course trucks.
After the 2 heats we created a "bracket" (think NCAA tournament) and seated racers according to times; 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, etc...
We then ran 4 laps of head to head racing, you lose...you're done. You win...you advance to the next round and eventually we have 3 in the finals.

I ended up -
3rd place 13.5 Short Course
4th place 4wd Short Course (lost to the eventual winner in the semi)

Thomas won the Novice class (again). He is so bumping up at the end of the season.

Had my first indoor race last night with my Blitz short course with Caster stickers had a ton of questions about the truck and told them we will soon have a 4X4Sc. PLaced 7 out of 26 was having push issues all night with the tight sticky track. Didnt get enough to make a 1/8th scale but did have a few laps on it also and the owner who runs a losi took a few laps and said the set up was amazing and he took her for a 16.3 lap i did a 16.5 lap for fast lap did one 5 minute late last night and from the owner mouth you would of been top 4 in buggy. Here to hopin for more 1/8th next week. Big point series here this weekend so hence the lack of 1/8th.

Finally enough to make a class of 1/8th buggies... We ran a 2 moto style format like dirt bikes for the class since some of the guys wanted to take off to go drink...(whatever)

Brendan dominated the first race, nothing to report...2nd race he was dominating as well, until the pin where the wheel threads onto came out causing the wheel to fly off, no biggie tho he still got 2nd and with 1-2 scores still won the overall.

Hope everyone has a good weekend

The RC Pro series was in Amarillo this weekend.
1/8 E buggies ran a AA main.

Was battling for 3rd in A1, but on the last lap I lost a front tire 3 turns from the finish...ended up 6th.

A2 I got caught up in a mess at the start and ended up last. Worked my was back up to 4th, but ended up 5th.

Placed 6th overall. :-(. At least Caster made a decent showing in Texas. A few people gave me some crap during practice Friday, but the comments changed after today.

BAD NEWS for me!

Looking like "OUR" King NC run for this weekend, for me at least is gonna be a no-go. My 01 Ranger's tranny decided it was NO longer gonna do what its supposed to & yesterday (Monday August 1st) is BACK in the trans. shop. Reverse is perfect but NO forward gears at all. I did get to drive the lot wrecker yesterday & last night & got to put the fear into the neighbors that would prefer to park in the street instead of their own driveways! When I pulled in last night, neighbors PROMPTLY came out & put their rides in their driveways IMMEDIATELY! LOL!!! (Been threatening THIS for a while & I guess they thought I was full of BS!)

BUT, just for YOU Mr Knee Pads, a LOT of us is getting ready for the 2nd Saturday in Sept. & going to Wilkesboro, NC to get dialed in for YOUR visit!

I do sincerely APOLOGIZE to Team Caster for NOT being at a racin in almost 2 months now. Trust me, THIS SUX!!!

So i fork over the money and 1000 miles later it takes another crap and take it back they wanted to charge me another 800 for rebuilding thier new transmission. Lets just say Ford got a reality check and the local news station showed up to talk to thier service writer and service department manager. Tranny was fixed for free but 3 months to get it completed.

Just be glad it wasnt a Volkswagon, I had a Jetta that the trans. went out. $3000. for a used one installed. Then it still wasnt right so it cost another $800. for a transmission control module. My guess is that was the problem in the first place. I dont go back to the dealer any more. Found a non dealer volkswagon guy, much cheaper and more honest.

Find a bed and swap it out. Hell did that on my brothers step side to get him a full bed for his new job guy on craigslist wanted a stepside so he called guy even came over had tool and switched them out, we just used an engine hoist to move them around.
