Is there any information available about setting up the diffs?
I just added oil to the rear differential and put it back together. Went to do the front and noticed there was two washers on one side and none on the other.
I also noticed there is multiple gaskets where the ring gear scews the the differential case. So I assume this sets the clearance from the ring to the spider gears
There is a bag of parts that has washers in it. It includes .2mm and .1mm.
So the questions are:
a) How do you know how many gaskets to put under the ring gear?
b) What is the method for adding washers to the outside of differential to set the proper ring/pinion lash?
Thanks

I personally never seen two gaskets under the ring gears till I did my caster buggy yesterday but left them in. The washers you saw are shims and the same in the bag. You are supposed to set your clearance between your ring gear and pinion gear. More or less shims makes your clearance larger or smaller. I like to get my clearance between the two gears almost like my spur and clutch bell, maybe a little tigher. Leave the shims on it that you have and put it back in and see how much play you got. If too much then add one depending on thickness of the shim and if no play then remove one and recheck.

Well as you said shimming the diff in the bulkhead does two things. First it removes slop in the bulkhead and secondly if you remove from one side and add to other it adjust the ring and pinion lash.
I have setup ring gears in my old Camaros but there would be no way to do it on a buggy using the same method.
And finally, they send you a bag with various shims. Must be a reason why they have difererent thickness washers.
So hmmmm :)

any rc vehicle needs some shimming or sorts, be it drivetrain or for suspension slop.
Although the Caster vehicles come 80% assembled i strip down and rebuild to get familiar with teh vehicle and to address any slop or clearance issues.
The better everything works the better the vehicle runs and this is most important for the drive train and suspension.
diff to pinion mesh is very important so tak eyour time to shim with the supplied shims to get a smooth drivetrain. If you shim too tight you will feel the high spots when you turn over the diff.

hi guys, i think we have also have other improvment on the diff washer, now we have smaller washer and harder washer, so the washer will be good for 10 races...^_^
and also we have make some modigy too, that you will have just put 0.5 gasket to the diff, all the same, no more try to see the better or worth , or differents,
this will save a lot of troubles ...^__^

I talked to Cam last night and he said to remove the gaskets thats in it and replace with the blue one only.
So Razzor, you are saying you do a quick assembly of bulkheads and spin the drive shaft adding/removing/moving the washers to get a good feel to set the ring and pinion lash?

correct.
I actually use a Finishline Dry lube on my gears as well.
