Being a basher at heart I got the itch to do something fun with my ZX-1, and after seeing the Project 21 Ravager/Slayer, I decided I wanted one of my own. So this afternoon I picked up a new ProLine Slayer body and some body mounts and got to work. After only about an hour of work, it's now ready for paint. I've been taking pictures of what I did and I'll post them up after I'm finished. All it took to mount the body was some slight modification to the wing mount and other than that it was a bolt-on affair. I used RC10 front and rear body mounts; the rear body mounts now also serve as the buggy wing mounts (nice and sturdy, might I add) and the front body mounts are bolted to the front shock tower. I still need to find a decent set of wheels and tires that look - well, right - but as it stands everything works like I had hoped. Without any trimming of the body at all, I still get full suspension travel with a very minimal amount of rubbing. The best part is, since I left the factory body and wing mount in tact, I can still compete in 1/8 buggy classes at the local track, if I so desire. In the next couple months I'll also be installing an Axial .28 or .32 and upgraded radio gear. Anyway, I just wanted to share that with everyone. Cheers!

They might be, but I haven't heard. One of teh guys at the Hobby Haven told me somebody already did it with their Fusion so I guess I'm not the first one, but that's okay. Still looks sweet. The paint I've decided on is a purple pearlescant silver that I came up with, nothing fancy just a single tone paint job, but I don't have an airbrush anymore so really fancy paint jobs aren't my thing these days. I'll pick up some Caster decals from Cam to put on it just to screw with people lol.

Fusion cobbled one together to run at the local track and then he ran it. It got some attention that is for sure since it was a lot faster than the regular slashes that were out there practicing.....but it wasn't the one I was doing.

The actual Caster will have different shock towers and the body will mount to those. Should make for easy conversions back and forth if someone desired.

I should ask Mikey how it is coming. If it is like the fusion sport, we should hopefully see them in December. He claimed they were going to get it done quicker, but we will have to see...

Alright, it's finished and I have some pictures for everyone to see. I'm not allowed to post attachments for some reason, so a link will have to do.

I do apologize for the picture quality, I don't have the software to upload from the digital camera installed on this computer so I had to use my cell phone. Click on each picture and there's a description of each one.

I did end up trimming the wheel wells just a touch. I failed to take into consideration that the tires swell under hard acceleration, and I also failed to consider that though the wheels only travel so far if the chassis bottoms out, there is still the chance they could travel up even further if one side hits first in an off-angle landing. But other than that there's nothing to it. I do want to find aluminum mounts iff they make them for the RC10. My only concern is that the front posts won't hold up to the truck's weight in a hard roll-over. But I suppose even if they do break, they're about $4 to replace.

I got to do a bit of test driving today at the track and man, it's nice. I was worried about teh parachute effect but with the rear cut out for the engine, air passes through nicely and actually there's just a small amount of parachuting up front that helps to keep the front from nose diving. Hard cornering showed no issues that I could see, jsut the tiniest amount of rubbing if I really pushed hard, but the body never hooked even if the tires swelled up. I did lose a rear body mount though. I tried to do a mid-air pass to get around my brother's ravager and came up just short enough to catch the back of the body on his front end. It was just enough to pull the stub right off the mounting screw, body pin and all lol. But, I have more, so it' all good. Other than that, I'm sidelined with a blown clutch and some sort of leak that' allowing air into the fuel lines. Until I get that all sorted out it'll make a really pretty shelf queen.

air bubbles in the fuel line is common so dont stress about it.

Pretty much! lol Only thing I would do differently is the front mounts, which I'll be addressing. The RC10GT rear mounting pads have a locating stud right beneath the screw hole. I removed those as I didn't want to drill the shock towers. Only issue there is that they can get knocked over at an angle even with the screws cinched down tight. So I'm going to replace them with ones with the studs on them and drill the towers for them. Shouldn't affect the integrity of the towers so I see no issue with it, I just didn't want to do it the first go-round.

I've bought duratrax posts (4.00 for 2) and drilled and tapped 2 holes in the sides to use in applications like that
