I don't know how long his battery(s) would last, he was awefull punch happy and not very smooth.

very cool video.....that is why I am asking for video footage....

I think my 13 year old daughter can splice it all together with music....

I'm thinking something by slipknot since they are from here and I used to do their car stereos....

Sort of funny that every single jump the right side flies lower than the left...

I thought it was so balanced and that was a great design. No wonder Dustin abandoned it in 2006.

I just watched it again, your right it was low everytime on the right.

that's the side where the batt is mounted. that is one thing i love about the fuzion there are two spots for the batts which potentially means more runtime.

hakmazter

and more balance..... A lot of time was spent on balance and that is the main reason why everyone says it is so fun and effortless to drive. Caster geometry doesn't hurt either....lol.

Hak you guys need to put a promo vid like that together for the Fusion.

hakmazter

I want to, but need footage. Our local track has weak jumps and the weather is crappy now until March......

Cool! can I be in the vid?

I hope the fusion can compete with this.

Just watch the vids.
Its pretty sweet.

Yes it will compete no problem. I know that if you go to a track with really big jumps that Losi will have a hard time wanting to barrel roll in mid-air LOL!!

Snauty

Well i hope so.
still trying to find a motor for it if the medusa isnt going to work out.

I think he was a good driver. Very fast around that track with it. It will be a challenge to race against, but a lot of fun. I think we have the engineering advantage....

wouldnt it be unfiar to race an electric like that vs nitro ones. the electric is faster and you dont have to pit so you never stop. so wouldnt it be a big advantage for the electric driver??

vnmsgt
11-02-2008, 05:18 PM
Usually they make the electric pit too and pretend to refuel just to make it fair.

YourDogg

yeah but pretending dosent mean something could potentionally go wrong.

i had a 8ight E and a converted RC8...both cars were very lopsided..i had to run more preload on one side of the car to off set that poor handling when turning to one side..even with that the car would turn faster to the right then it would to the left...and always fly cocked to the right, good thing caster made a correctly designed electric car...:D

as soon as i get my fusion buggy ill shot some killer video and send it over, me and my buddys do alot of filming on the track, and we have some big air tracks that are open for practice now that out door is over,so we can spend some time just filming....also thought about taking it out to the local skate/bmx dirt jump park to get some sick big air footage...some of the jumps especially the concrete bowl you can easily get 20+ foot of air..and theres a dirt rythom section with 7 foot dirt jumps and you can hit all 3 in a rythom..it looks bad ass! maybe a little testament that the car is ready for battle!

When I converted my "old" (read: soon to be replaced by a Caster Fusion) RC8 this past summer, I designed and machined my own 3 piece motor mount/center diff mount setup. This was necessitated by my local club mandating that we can only use ROAR approved Lipos, which meant running two 2S Lipos in series. All the other tracks I race at in PA & NY didn't care what Lipos we used, but to race locally, I had to follow the local club's rules.

So basically I went with Novak battery trays, one mounted on each side of the car and the motor mounted in the middle just above the spur gear. (Some of you who have followed the 1/8 conversion thread on RC Tech over the last few months have probably seen the photos of my design.)

In short, the car's balance was good, and it flew perfectly flat over even the largest jumps, but it always felt a bit on the "heavy" side. I used to say that the car was very well "planted", but as I got faster and so much better with the car, that "planted" feeling just turned to a "heavy" feeling. I won plenty of races with the car all over the tri-state area this past season, but I always felt that I could do better with a purpose-built E-1/8 like the Caster buggy.

So with all of that said, I'm really looking forward to getting my Caster buggy and feeling it out. Just from looking at it, I can tell that it's very well designed and will fly right and not feel so heavy like my converted RC8 did.

Oh yeah... I forgot that this is the video thread. I'll get some videos up on my Youtube page just as soon as I get my new Caster buggy and get some "test-n-tune" time with it.

You seemed to have that car pretty dialed the few times I got to run with you this year. Great addition to the team I'm sure you will put the fusion on the podium many times in 09.

Thanks, Rick. Yeah, I was really happy with the E-RC8, but I have a real strong feeling that I can do even better with the Fusion. Good luck to you too this upcoming season. When I come down to T&L, we can have a little Team Caster Pow-wow.

Speaking of which, I've seen the posts about making Caster T-Shirts, but are there any plans to put the Caster logo on pop-up tents, pit towels, setup boards, etc?

My buddy has a screen printing and embroidery business. I was going to ask him to make some stuff up. I'm waiting to see if some official stuff becomes available soon. If not and it's cool with Cam and Mike I will get some stuff made up. I'm going to try and run your full schedule in 09. Will you still be running every other Sunday? If Hobby Headquarters has a point series I will run there on Saturdays. I will also hit the ROAR events for region 2 when possible.

That's great, Rick. Yup, we'll be racing at Dirt Runners every other Sunday starting near the end of April. The first 3 Sundays in April are reserved as workdays, where we all come out and re-do the track, practice, etc.

Also, our track is like not too many others in that it's in a county park and is open to the public 365 days a year, with no practice fees. The downside is that there is a locked gate and the track is about 150 yards from where you park. BUT, I open up the gate and have open practices every Tuesday & Friday. So just like on race days, you can drive right in and park right near the track on Tues & Fri.

Go for it. I wanted Panther to make us shirts, but he never got back to me.

Did anyone else notice even with that Losi, it had alot of chassis slap when landing. It's just alot more noticeable when there is no engine noise.

Chad O

hakmazter
11-26-2008, 10:39 PM
and that is all RC Driver was trying to say is that with electric, you hear chassis slap because 1/8 scales are a lot heavier than 1/10 scales, etc.... and monster trucks don't bottom out....

Unfortunately, their choice of wording was poor.

razzor
11-27-2008, 02:42 AM
On teh gas buggies teh engine noise just hides the slaps.
Pretty normal for cars to slap teh chassis.

vnmsgt
11-28-2008, 08:41 AM
Also if you look at the review that had the front shocks in the wrong holes. They had them in the upper outer holes on tower and outer holes on the arms which gives the buggy NO droop at all so the chassis would slap even worse. They need to run them in middle hole on tower and inner hole on arm.

Off road seems to be the one form of RC racing that just doesnt seem to get it..DIFFERENT CLASSES..In on road they have understood that electric has the advantage so they put NITRO and ELECTRIC into DIFFERENT classes..why do the guys that race 1/8th think that they should run in the same class..anyone who has driven both would (or at least you would think) know this.

That video was shot at our local track here in California. it is Revelations Raceway. I am waiting to get our Fusion and then we can get some video there also.
