Just finishing the buggy up. Picked up a Crowd Pleaser body about 3 hours ago and decided to give it a quicky paint job.
Gonna let it tack up a littler more and get the stickers out. Wish the LHS had a starter box because I would have had it running. But noooooo...:&

What did you use the mask out the blue. Just a exacto knife and tape or something else? Came out real smooth.

It really was my first time. I learned a lot from my mistakes so plan on doing a really nice one next for the road car.
I Just bought one of those $5 mask kits and hacked it up. Filled in the rest with masking tape. Sprayed it with polycarb style paint. Being new I am pretty sure I am going to be upside down a lot so dont want to make it real nice. I was pleasantly surprised how well it came out for an hour and a halfs work.

Where can you get those mask kits?? I assume they come with directions. I would like to try it. I still have my stock ZX1R body that is clear.

LHS sells them. They are really nice vinyl and work well in tight spots.
It was super simple. Can imagine what someone could really do if they tried.
Here is the stuff. Look for the dual ones where you put it down and paint, pull the outline and paint again. I think that would be super cool.

I like the first ones that have the flames coming off what looks like the wheels on the car. Are we supposed to be able to copy and print these or something?

All you have to do is right click and save and then go to the file and print.?&^

How would you get the paper on your body to where the lines are smooth so you can paint. Forgive me if it sounds stupid but I have never used stencils and things. Just masked my own (SIMPLE) designs.

BigC, do you have a vinyl plotter? It would be nice to buy some of those designs already layed out in vinyl for us...... hint hint

what i do is use liquid mask on the inside of the body and then lay stencils on body trace out pattern and then cut with exacto knife and the go to painting, I don't personally like vinyl stencils because of the bleed through you get sometimes.?&^

I'm 100% sure that he has never painted a R/C body before. I'm sure that was 1/2 ass for him also. Here is an example....In my past life I was a professional car stereo installer with all the certifications, IASCA and USAC judge, etc....for about 18 years. I laugh at shows like Unique Whips, etc...Did it all...even started building sub boxes from aluminum instead of fiberglass. Highly recognized and respected.....anyways, I offered for free to do him a system and he asked what to do and what to get and did it all himself and I can honestly say that he did a better job on his stereo than many people who have been in the business for years. He then posted pics on his site and now is the advice guru for several thousand members of a major website and is even trying to solve a tire pressure monitoring issue for 3 car stereo electronics manufacturers. I'm just glad he decided to fall into our hobby because we all will probably be asking him for advice once he gets it all figured out.....lol.
By the way, he is still missing the zip ties on the top of his motor.....
How come no one else here is doing that? That good of drivers?

Thanks Mike, that means a lot coming from someone of your audio and fabrication caliber !
I plan on doing the zip ties on mine. There is a huge buggy pictured thread on RC unviverse and I noticed a lot of guys running 4 ties on their heads. I plan on doing that for sure. Save concrete rash as I am sure I am going to spend alot of time upside down !

For some reason, I thought you got rid of your Bose system.....Must have been someone else who didn't have quite the courage that I did. By the way, I told a guy with a TBSS about you and told him to look at your site. He was talking about sending his computer to Texas. I told him that I thought it cost $200 for a credit for another car and you would probably charge a reasonable fee to tune it and set it up for electric fan like mine. I told him to look on ebay for a jeep fan.
