Has anyone tried a 3s battery setup in a buggy? I'm curious what it weighs and how hot the setup gets.

Edumakated I beleive tried it on rctech 1/8 scale conversion forum. he was able to get it to run, but from what I understand I think he puffed a lipo. Its just overall harder on batteries as you need to run a higher KV motor to get similar performance to a 4S or higher cell setup, and those higher KV motors draw more on the batteries, so the batteries need to have really high C handing ratings.

Current 30C + batteries probably could handle it, but, I would think overall 4S or higher is the way things should good.

Higher cell count = more voltage = better efficiency from what i have learnt so minimum 4 cell, its also teh most popular and practical to apply with the hard cased car batteries being so popular.

mike from rcmonster runs 3s i the winter when he races indoors.

A guy I know runs 3s in his STRR indoors and 4s outoors. In the Fusion you wouldnt be able to run 3s because you would be way off balance with 1 batt. Now you put 2 3s packs with a lower kv motor and your golden.

There is a guy here in OH that runs his Kyosho 777 sp2 on a Fine Designs motor and 3s with a MM and no external bec. His car runs fine and gets hotter than I like but it seems to work ok.

I just talked to the guy I was talking about earlier and he said that he runs 3S outdoors too. I couldnt belive it in a truggy its fast but he modded the sh out of it, BCE chassis, stock RC8 shocksand a few other goodies to lightenit up.

the bce chassis for the rc8 isnt lighter then stock and 3s is a way to build alot of heat

espcially in a truggy, I personally wouldn't run less than 4s

Quesition. So using the RTR Hobbywing 80A ESC and 2 pieces of 2s 5000mah lipos connected in series would make my setup as 2s or 4s?

4s 5000mah if done in series
2s 10,000mah if done in parallel

the way the esc comes wired,it is series connection

Ok. Since the 80A can support up to 4s, I guess I''ve pretty reached the limit of wht it can take other than increasing the mAh.

Guys, do you all normally run your lipos on hardcase or normal wrapping? People over here keeps fussing on how lipos are dangerous and since we're playing buggies, a hardcase would be more advisable.

a hardcase is a joke they just give you more material to burn

Agree but it apparently also keeps the damage to minimum should the batt explode. Right? Asking cause if it's really ok, I would consider a non-hardcase to lower my cost in batteries.

lipos dont explode they shoot flames the hardcase is just more material to burn. im using hardcase lipos because there easier to find the right dimensions that fit in the tray

So anyone knows if the RTR is using 16mm big bore shocks?

The RTR uses std shocks. Its 13mm ID on the std shocks
