Has abnyone done any mods to get more lock to lock steering? If so could you please share what you did! Also what are you guys running for a track width on the front?

My buggy steering is BONE STOCK and will turn on a dime. Have you driven yours yet. If not and you just go it out of the box your steering will bind because the pillow balls are screwed in too much from the factory. You need to unscrew them I have been running about 2 turns out on top and about 3-4 on the bottom or so. Then your droop will increase and steering. IMO the buggy needs no steering mods at all.

Yea i have driven it. It seem to not have enough turn in for me. I'm kinda new to pivot ball so mabey thats normal. The car drive great other than that. seem that 1 wheel turns in farther than the other on urns out if that makes sense. So lets say your tuning to the left the left wheel turns in good but the rught wheel doesnt travel the same lengh. any thoghts or is that normal?

sounds like too much toe out, also ackerman always turn the inside wheel a bit more than the outside one, smaller diameter. try setting the toe out to 0 and give it more little by little if you need it.

Mine had a slight push and I was running zero to out. I went to -2 degrees all around on the buggy with the 3 degree toe plate, 45wt oil in front 30 or 45 in rear and it handles like a dream! I am still getting used to it and still turn into the pipes it turns so sharp. I have to back my steering off on my controller.

Current setup on mine. 40wt 1.4 middle hole shock tower outer on the arm. Ofna shock ends for more length -1 tow -1 camber. Rear 35 1 out from the inner most hole on the tower outer on the arm -1 camber. 5-7-2 diffs car drive great need a little more steering and thicker shock oil in the rear.

post a pic of your front end .
the ZX-1R has plenty steering and if you having a hassle it must be setup or servo related.
start from scratch setting up everything including your radio.
my car has so much steering i run my dual rate way down to suit teh track i run on.
Also check your servo saver has good tension if not it can limit steering under load in corners.

I run 5-5-2, also you should run the front shocks in the inner hole on the arm. You get more droop that way. Shock rods are too short IMO to run anywhere else but the middle on tower and inner on arm.

i fixed the limiting of droop with jammin long shock ends i have full droop. Mabey i will change my setup to get more steering! it turns lock to lock fully just seems like it could use more!

Track width:

I set my power pillow balls with 3 threads showing....then set my camber with the upper BP's

Are you running the Pro Kit or the RTR? The wheels will look jacked up at full turn.....but it works well.

Are you running big bore shocks with that light fluid?

Make sure your steering rods are the same length on each side and check your end points on your controller for the steering. It may not be pushing the same left and right.

I have seen one driver at the track actually take some of the plastic away from the steeering knuckle to allow it to steer futher before making contact on the pillow ball (not a Caster driver). We have only ran our new car three times since we got it and I think it has more steering than anything else we have ran just like it is out of the box. The only thing that we did need to adjust out of the box was the servo saver. It needed to be tightened up a little.

I have also got just a little more steering throw by grinding a little notch in the lower suspension arm... where the locknut on the steering arm contacts it at full lock.

Hey guys thanks for all the answers. I already notched the arm. Yes pro kit and big bores. Im going to go up to 45 front 40 rear. Fixed my steering problem put captured rodends on and added some shims it gave me more steering and almost no bump steer. Now ill try and snap some pics soon and post them. Thanks again for all the feedback.

you can do the usual notching in the pillow ball ends, not too much cause the cvd's can only go so far. if you go too far the cvd's will bend or snap over time.

i did take some material off the pillow ball seemed to help out a lot.

I dont see the need for notching the a-arm . If you need that much steering then your setup isnt very efficient.
I rather set the car up with a looser back end and use trhe dual rate to adjust teh feel and steering to my liking. also with the front end not having to move so much it helps to carry more corner speed unlike with excess steering movement it causes resistance and slows the buggy down in the corners.

I tend to set up the car with oversteer and loose in the back at first so i have tons of steering then ill tighten up the back so its planted.

I just installed an Eck Tec steering ackerman on my RTR K8T ( Yes RTR, and I get in the A main with it too <*&)
I did have to grind on it a little but now I have so much steering that my turnbuckles hit the sway bar holders

Can't wait to try it out tomorrow afternoon

From what I heard that RTR K8T was whooping some A$$ last night. You lapped the field in your qualifier right? That is what I was told.

Yep,
It was smoothe and consistant
I do have to change the o rings in the diffs....There was just a little bit of fluid left in them.
It's just a matter of going through everything.....

Not bad for the first time driving it though

I use the one that comes on the buggy for my truggy. Been using it for awhile now. IMO much better.
