I just got this ZX1-R Buggy that I am going to sell and I need to know exactly what it is. The Diff cases are completely different shape, the Steering servo is mounted with the arm on the inside next to the center driveshaft and the Shock towers are different. It also has dogbones in the center and rear but the front has CVD but they are a different shape then on my Kit ZX1/R. It looks like a RTR but wanted to make sure because of the shock towers and diff cases. It also has all the carbon fiber on it which I am going to remove to sell:) It also has a different wing mount too and he said it had the lightened chassis which the chassis does have clearance made for the front and center diff ring gears cut out that you can see on the bottom of the chassis. Here are some pics.

No clue. But I think the steering arm will flip either way. Not sure the servo horn will clear the current aluminum plate if you do, but looks like yours will.

I am sure Dom or Mikey would know. If I was to guess, it looks like the original ZX-1. We have only received the new ZX-1R and been working on improving it in regards to shock tower design and part changes for the kits. Maybe you should clean it up really nice and put it away for 20 years and then put it on ebay for lots of money for when Caster Racing is a household name like OFNA and Kyosho.

Clean it up?? You cannot get any more cleaner than brand new!! I am planning on selling it but are the parts available like those shock towers and diff cases or would the owner have to upgrade to the new stuff if he broke something??

That is a 1st gen ZX-1 RTR chassis with Pro C/F radio tray, front brace and diff brace. Also has the front and rear chassis ally brace set.
From the pics the front uprights are also changed to the later model ones.
Those shock towers where awfully weak, id suggest change them to later model or Pro towers.
Only other hassle with that buggy was the diff crown wheels used to wear fast and the cast bevel gears inside the diff.

Well it is now parted out. If anyone needs any parts let me know. I am selling parts as assemblies off of it. Will be posted on ebay soon so do not wait too long. Couple of things that were not in the pics are the stock RTR body, Proline wheels and Badlands tires (Both Brand New).?&^
